This Ramen place is rated #1 on Urbanspoon.com, thought I will go and try it.

I went on a Sunday and arrived at about 1.30 pm, to our surprise, there is no lineup (there is typically a long lineup - up to 3 hours, we heard)and we only had to wait about 5 minutes before we were seated.

I ordered their signature Shio Ramen - it's a mild and creamy soup seasoned with salt. The soup is very rich and tasty. I liked it, however, halfway through, I found the richness to be too much. I think next time I will go for what my husband ordered (the spicy soup base- see below). I had mine with a side of soft yolk egg (the yolk is orange in colour, soft and slightly runny) It is heavenly, it's a must order!

My husband had the the Toroniku Karo Miso Ramen ($13.45). The noodle bowl comes with a dish of garnishings and a plate of pork meat. The soup was rich and had a nice spice to it. After he had a bite of the meat, he asked for a 2nd order of the meat right away, it was that good!! The meat was really tender, however it was a little on the fatty side.

We also ordered the Chef's Special Gyoza ($5). It is the best gyoza I have had all my life. The skin is the right thinness and crispiness and the fillings were really tasty.

You also have a choice to go for a smaller bowl of the noodle ($1 less) or a larger bowl if you are hungry ($1 more)

Pricewise - it is more expensive than regular ramens at other comparables places on Robson, however I think the quality of the meat and the noodles justify the prices.

I will definitely go back!
I'm going to check it out, even though I don't eat much of Ramen, but love Gyozas! :) by kcyxa 2011-02-08
