A heaven in Osoyoos!
Not only does Nk'Mip produce great tasting wine, but its patio is also positioned to overview the most spectacular view -- so beautiful! At a recent trip to Osoyoos in early September I visited the Nk'Mip winery and tasted their Riesling. It was light and paired perfectly with their meat platter (which by the way had the most delicious tomatoes). Oh, and to top the delicousness, I had THE BEST CHEESECAKE I have ever had in my life. It was so light and tasy! And I found out the chef's secret: garbanzo beans in the cheese mixture! You must try the cheesecake. We also tried their creme caramel and it was very tasty as well. Overall, I completely enjoyed my Nk'Mip experience -- great relaxed conversation with friends, looking at a beautiful view, while eating delicious food. What more could we ask for?

"Fight Club" for Girls?

This movie was terrible.
I have never witnessed a more complete collection of actors and scenes that I could never relate to. If I was able to drum up any empathy at all for any of the characters in this movie, I might have been left asking the question "why?" Instead, the only thought in my mind when I walked out of the theatre was "where did I park?"
There was only one good scene in the entire movie. I felt like the characters really emotionally connected in that scene and that I could understand and relate to their feelings. Unfortunately, that scene was later dismissed as not even being real (within the context of the already ridiculous plot). It was not worth having to watch the rest of the movie for. I challenge anybody who thought that this movie was awesome to get yourself tested for emotional problems.

Amazing view of the city!
I went here for Valentines Day with my girlfriend, and wasn't expecting it to be as nice as it was. The service was really great, they took a few pictures of us as we were walking in so I felt like a celebrity ;). I had made reservations and the host was very prompt in seating us by the window as requested (very professional, no wait time). While you're eating the restaurant very slowly rotates, giving a 360 view of the city. It was a clear night, so we got a great view of the city lights. Before this, I hadn't been to the CN Tower for ages, it's strangely relaxing to be so high up.
I recommend to all for special occasions.

I’m not really a gym person. At least I wasn’t until about a year ago when I got a membership for the first time in my life. Of course just like everybody before this every year or two I was making an attempt to do something healthy but could never get past third workout day. I’m telling you all that in order to make sure that it’s clear that I’m not an expert in fitness and my review is based on my short (1 year) experience.
- Equipment -
Is very very good. Quality, quantity and variety. Even on a busiest day there are few unoccupied cardio-machines so you don’t have to worry about re-arranging you workouts routine in case somebody selfishly decided to run a marathon. Unfortunately it’s not as good when it comes to the free weights area. Don’t get me wrong, there is enough dumbbells for everyone but the actual area is not that big and sometimes can get really crowded. Of course you can always grab what you need and go else where in the building but that’s not very convenient. Of course every once in a while something gets broke but it’s usually fixed within a week or so which is pretty quick considering that the owners probably have to order parts or call a technician.
-Staff-
I really don’t have much to say about them, they are there and they are friendly that’s about it.
-Extras-
What else is good … there is sauna, you could rent a towel for a couple bucks if you forgot yours, there is a tanning room which I’ve never used so can’t really comment on it, showers are great as well as the change-rooms. Also you can take some classes, hire a personal trainer. There are a couple of big screens so you wont miss a game.
-Bad things-
Not many but still. Few month ago they’ve decided to build a little cafeteria in the middle of the gym. They are mixing some energy drinks and blend smoothies. The idea itself is not bad but they also serve food which they cook right over there. First few weeks it was terrible, apparently smell of bacon can be very destructive. They’ve installed some fancy fan and now it’s not as bad (plus not many people actually buy food there) but it’s still a little bit annoying.
Also it seems like the use of the space could be a little bit better. As I explained earlier, free weights area is always busy and nothing really gets done about that. Also sometimes parking could be an issue however if you come after five you can use parking by the next building.
- Bottom line -
At the end of the day I’m very happy with my gym.

Excellent Ramen & Best Gyozas
one year ago
This Ramen place is rated #1 on Urbanspoon.com, thought I will go and try it.
I went on a Sunday and arrived at about 1.30 pm, to our surprise, there is no lineup (there is typically a long lineup - up to 3 hours, we heard)and we only had to wait about 5 minutes before we were seated.
I ordered their signature Shio Ramen - it's a mild and creamy soup seasoned with salt. The soup is very rich and tasty. I liked it, however, halfway through, I found the richness to be too much. I think next time I will go for what my husband ordered (the spicy soup base- see below). I had mine with a side of soft yolk egg (the yolk is orange in colour, soft and slightly runny) It is heavenly, it's a must order!
My husband had the the Toroniku Karo Miso Ramen ($13.45). The noodle bowl comes with a dish of garnishings and a plate of pork meat. The soup was rich and had a nice spice to it. After he had a bite of the meat, he asked for a 2nd order of the meat right away, it was that good!! The meat was really tender, however it was a little on the fatty side.
We also ordered the Chef's Special Gyoza ($5). It is the best gyoza I have had all my life. The skin is the right thinness and crispiness and the fillings were really tasty.
You also have a choice to go for a smaller bowl of the noodle ($1 less) or a larger bowl if you are hungry ($1 more)
Pricewise - it is more expensive than regular ramens at other comparables places on Robson, however I think the quality of the meat and the noodles justify the prices.
I will definitely go back!

One of the largest gyms I've seen in the Vancouver area (and I've been to at least 3 others). You will never have to wait in line for a treadmill again (and neither will you be limited on it in terms of time)!
It has everything you will ever need and more. It has been ensured the gym has the latest equipment (personal TV attached to every cardio machine is a nice touch). Everything is well laid out and organized. The staff is very friendly. The ridiculous-sized body builders are proof that the gym is good!
While this is a co-ed gym, girls do get their own smaller space on the 2nd floor that they can use if they wish.
There is a nice steam sauna in the changing room (how relaxing after a workout!)
All fitness classes are included in the monthly price, which also quite reasonable (around $50/month). You can get at least a week for free to try it out.
I gave it a 9, because in my mind, the only thing missing is a pool and/or a jacuzzi :) And yes, I'm waiting for those contracts to go away! But unless you're looking for something small and cozy, this is the best I've seen.
